Vegan protein powder

Vegan athletes, who do strength and endurance sports, vegans on a low-carb diet, seniors, and people who want to lose weight, are all in need of extra protein. Meeting these requirements through a ‘normal’ vegan diet requires a conscious approach to the topic. Vegan protein powders help to meet protein requirements from high-quality protein sources with a balanced amino acid profile.

Vegan protein powder in a plant-based nutrition

A lot of protein-rich vegan food, like beans, peas, nuts, seeds, and kernels, can be tough to digest. Because of this, these protein sources aren't easy to add to your daily training routine. This is where plant-based protein powders and specific vegan sports nutrition from SPONSER® like VEGAN PROTEIN, PREMIUM PLANT PROTEIN, vegan bars, gels and other high-quality supplements make a difference. They can be eaten anywhere, or quickly and easily turned into a tasty protein shake in a shaker when you're on the go. By cleverly combining vegan protein powders and protein products with other supplements such as amino acids and vitamin D, one can meet the critical nutrient requirements of a vegan nutrition (such as iron, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, calcium and vitamin B2), without compromising on protein intake, digestibility, biological value or convenience.

VEGAN PROTEIN & PREMIUM PLANT PROTEIN

The purely plant-based protein blend VEGAN PROTEIN contains no animal ingredients and is based on pea protein, rice protein, yeast, chickpeas and sunflower seeds. This vegan protein is free from soy, gluten and lactose and provides 22 g of protein per serving or per shake. PREMIUM PLANT PROTEIN is a highly innovative protein supplement that covers the entire spectrum of amino acids. Enriched with the unique protein fraction PeptiStrong™, minerals, vitamin D3, creatine, calcium and zinc, it is also gluten-free and lactose-free. One serving provides 24 g of protein per prepared shake. Ideal for anyone looking to build muscle, maintain muscle mass, lose weight or follow a low-carb nutrition. Available in neutral or chocolate flavour (VEGAN PROTEIN) or vanilla flavour (PREMIUM PLANT PROTEIN). For adding protein to your everyday diet, e.g. in porridge, bowls, muesli, etc.

FAQs about VEGAN PROTEIN and plant-based protein powders

Not if you take a close look at the topic of nutrition. Studies show that vegans often eat more consciously than the general population, even if a vegan diet and vegan protein powders do not always cover all nutritional requirements. Critical nutrients such as iron, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, calcium and vitamin D are often not consumed in sufficient quantities.
High-quality vegan protein powder such as our VEGAN PROTEIN can simply be added to water or plant-based drinks (approx. 300 ml water or milk substitutes and 30 g protein powder) in a shaker and refined with fruit, cinnamon or other spices to taste to create different flavours and aromas. Our VEGAN PROTEIN contains the full spectrum of amino acids and provides more than 20 g of protein per serving. An important plus: VEGAN PROTEIN impresses with its excellent solubility.
Vegan protein powders should be consumed in slightly higher doses (30–40 g) in order to achieve the required protein content. The problem is that protein from plant sources naturally has a higher fibre content. However, if no digestive problems arise, there is no reason not to consume higher doses of protein, as long as it comes from high-quality sources.
If protein intake is sufficient and the amino acid spectrum is taken into account, an adequate vegan diet is possible. However, no effort should be spared when it comes to practical aspects and your own well-being. The demands on digestion and absorption are higher. For example, many athletes do not want to consume a whole plate of chickpeas before training, but prefer to opt for a ready-made, high-quality products from vegan protein with a delicious taste.
A balanced and variety-rich diet is essential. In addition, there are several general recommendations: Plant-based protein sources should contain the following essential amino acids: methionine, lysine and leucine. It is recommended to consume larger amounts of protein from plant sources than from animal products. And: whenever possible, combine several protein sources (plant-based protein from rice, peas, yeast, chickpeas, etc.) to ensure a balanced amino acid profile.
Of the plant-based protein sources, soy is considered a very valuable protein powder due to its high protein content and relatively complete amino acid profile. However, it is also an allergen. Studies have shown that plant proteins such as soy protein do not increase muscle protein synthesis rates to the same extent as whey protein, milk protein or beef protein. The key probably lies in the essential amino acid L-leucine. If you make sure that vegan protein powder contains sufficient L-leucine, the results appear to be comparable, although various anti-nutritional factors (amino acid complexing agents, enzyme inhibitors) can have a negative impact on the biological value depending on the plant protein source.
